How to meet your health goals + Michelob ULTRA 95K SWEEPSTAKES

Thank you Michelob ULTRA for sponsoring this post.

If you have been following me on my other social channels you know that I have worked for a healthier and more active lifestyle this year. During the past year I had not really been active at all. My eating habits were horrible and I barely slept. It is needless to say that overall, l my health as a whole was absolute crap. That combined with some major hormonal changes resulted in a weight gain that made me beyond uncomfortable with the way I felt and looked. 2018 was the year when I decide once and for all to actually do something about my lifestyle. And that started with some major changes for me and my health.

Not only did I have to go through changes with my heart. But I also transferred to a new school this semester and I knew that it might be a lot more schoolwork to handle. I had my mind set on the fact that even though school comes first. I have to make sure that my body and mind is in the right state so I can be as effective in school as possible. And that started with changing my way of living. Here are the goal that I set up for myself:

  • Get more sleep (8 hours a night on average is my goal).
  • Daily activity (light exercise) of 30 min minimum.
  • 10,000 steps per day minimum.
  • Workout at least 3 days a week.
  • Cook more at home and pick healthier choices when eating out.
  • Consistant eating.

Although not everything is easy, nor can be achieved overnight. It is all a trial and error process and different things work for different people. I have been trying different things. Changing things and sticking to the ones that have worked. I wanted to give som tips and insight into what I have done, what have worked and what you can try if you also need to improve some of these things in your life. I am pro for healthy lifestyle all the way, but I also understand that it is not as easy as it might seem.

Tackling my sleeping problems.

Sleep is 100% my biggest issue. Ever since my teens I have suffered from many sleepless nights and insomnia. I know a lot of people will tell you to take spelling pills. But for me thats not necessarily a remedy that works nor gives me the quality of sleep that I need. I want you to know that even though some of these things have worked for me, I am occasionally still having problems sleeping some nights.

My bed is for sleeping and nothing else.

As a college student it is easy to get stuck doing everything in your bed. I have been there. Especially during the times when you are sharing a room with someone else. Your bed becomes your space where you can watch your favorite movie on your laptop or find a quiet time to study. No more. My bed is now for sleeping and nothing else. I do allow myself to lay down and read before going to sleep. No electronics, no hanging out at the foot of the bed checking the phone during the day.

That creates a kind of calm when you finally do get to lay down in your bed and mentally prepares you for sleeping. If I feel like I have had a stressful day or have a lot on my mind for the next day I usually spray a lavender spray that I have to calm myself down. Some other things that I do is exercise more if I have a lot of energy that day, take relaxing bath and read books. My fitbit help me track my sleep and how I sleep.

Achieving my daily activity goals and weekly exercises.

I have set my daily activity goals to 10,000 steps and at least 30 minutes of activity. Now that means that I have to be active for a time period which can include just light walks for 30 minutes. I do find myself a lot in front of my computer stationary during the days when I am not on campus. So what I try and do is take pause and go outside for a short walk. During this walk I can listen to music, watch my youtube videos or reply to emails. In other words I am doing what I would normally do, but I am doing it while walking. Instead of driving to the food store I will walk over there. And I try and do some small chores around the house daily.

Small things like that really makes a big difference. I also have a extremely nice gym at my university that is free for me to use. So I try and use it at least the three days that I am on campus. I even got my own locker there so I have no excuses not to go. The Michelob UTRA sweepstakes have actually helped me discovering new classes around my city as well. My Fitbit tracks my daily steps and activity for me so I can see my daily progress.

Eating healthier.

Eating and cooking is actually really really hard if you don’t have the time or money to spend. Being a College student is already stressful as it is. And trying to squeeze in those meals and snacks daily can sometimes be really hard. Fortunately I go to a great school with an amazing campus. There are tons of food choices and many of them healthy and inexpensive. I often find it easy to go to the make your own salad bar for $5.

It is really the days when I am at home trying to get work and school stuff done that I struggle. With takeout and all the delivery options we have now it is easy to to spend $30 on a delivery meal. And it is also easy to forget the food in the fridge if you have been out doing some grocery shopping. So, what I do is that I only plan my food for about 2-3 days when I go grocery shopping. This way I don’t overbuy and know what I will be eating. Sure, it takes me a few extra trip to the store (more steps for me). But it ensures me that I won’t be buying food that then goes to waste.

If I know that I won’t have a lot of time cooking the next day I pick up an easy to make salad kit. Or something from the fresh food section that I can heat up. This may not be the most inexpensive option, but it is cheaper than ordering takeout and it makes sure that I actually do eat when time doesn’t allow me to cook.

Don’t forget to reward yourself.

This is something that is so, so important. If you put in the time and energy you will se results slowly. Meanwhile you cannot forget to relax a little bit and reward yourself for something good that you have done. Small steps is always the best way to change things. There is nothing wrong in enjoying a piece of chocolate, a day off, or a night out with drinks. As long as you don’t over consume and ruin your progress. That is why I am loving the Michelob ULTRA light beer with only 95 calories per bottle. And it still tastes just like regular beer.

Back to School Look

Hi guys! Today was my first day back to school. And my first day at my new school. I finished my transfer requirements last fall and decided to transfer to CSUN. I am still majoring in Marketing and was so excited to start at a new school. I have been really sick these past couple of days and was worried wether or not I would make it through the orientation day but I found some energy to push through it. I am however ready to go to bed and it isn’t even 6pm yet.

As I sad I am so excited about starting a new school. It is such a positive change of environment and I am actually at a real University now. I will definitely start writing and sharing more about my school life now. Anyhow, starting a new school is really nerve-wracking and I wasn’t sure of what to wear on my first day. So I decided to go cute but simple with this front tie top from Tobi, a layered choker from Baublebar, and a pair of jeans. The top is such a cute but casual way to dress up your look without any efforts.

Simple on-the-go look with Neutrogena Hydro Boost

Self care is my number one priority this year, besides from doing well in school. I have never been the person to wear a ton of makeup to cover anything up. On the contrary I love the on-the-go natural look even more. Makeup is fun, but wearing too much is not good for my skin. Neutrogena recently introduced their new Hydro Boost line. Top rated by several beauty publications, whom better to try it out than me? The products have hyaluronic acids in it to help naturally hydrate your skin. This makes them extremely lightweight and not at all oily. Neutrogena is an extremely affordable makeup and skincare brand. You can find the Hydro Boost collection at your local Walmart. I was very pleased to se a well stocked isle at my  Walmart.

I picked up three products from the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Cosmetics line. The hydrating tint foundation, hydrating concealer and hydrating lip treatment. Honestly, the lip treatment excited me the most. Although my skin in general gets very dry during the Winter season. My lips are the worst at any season. A lot of times I find drugstore brands to not be as good as brands with higher price point. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the Hydro Boost Lip Treatment from Neutrogena. I applied it in the morning and by the afternoon my lips still felt moisturized! Costing less than $10 this is definitely a runner up to my otherwise $24 lip oil.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost hydrating tint is a very light foundation. You will find a range of colors from fair to dark.  Natural Beige 60 was a perfect match for me down to the undertone. The foundation looks flawless and like my own skin. Combined with the Hydro Boost hydrating concealer I have everything I need for a simple on the go look. Using only these three products its a simple three step on-the-go beauty routine to follow that takes less than 10 minutes to do.  Although hydrating, the products looks very natural and matte once applied.

Have you tried the Hydro Boost products? If so, what did you think of them? Leave a comment down below. If you haven’t tried the products yet I have a discount code under the next photo for you to use! If you are prone to brake outs, I also have a code for the Skin Clearing line for your use.

Trying out Panacea Skincare – The Aegis Kit

Panacea is a skincare brand influenced by Korean Beauty technology. Korean Beauty is way ahead of us when it comes to beauty and skincare products and I was beyond excited about trying these new products. Especially Korean beauty. The skincare line launched early November and is fairly new.  Panacea focuses on the few simple things that we need. And that is why they only have three products. We are told that we need a cleanser, a scrub, a exfoliator, a toner, a mist, a moisturizer,a SPF. Different products for day and night. The list goes on. This adds up to a lot of products.  That is one of the reason to why I can’t properly keep up with a skincare routine. It is way too much to keep track off and I feel like I am drowning in products sometimes.

With an easy three step regimen Panacea wants to make it easy for you to achieve healthy and glowing skin with the bare minimum. The line includes a Daily Facial Cleanser, Daily Facial Moisturizer and a Daily Facial SPF. Purchase the products separate or as a bundle. Product pricing ranges from $22-$46 and the kit is $92. All products are cruelty free and vegan as well as paraben and sulfate free.

Panacea Daily Facial Cleanser

The Daily Facial Cleaner is definitely my favorite product of all three. If you have followed me for a while or read my skincare post you already know my favorite cleanser. It is also from a Korean Beauty brand and both cleansers definitely pars up. The Panacea Daily Facial Cleanser is extremely light but removes everything. Even eye makeup. If you end up looking like a panda after washing your face you know the struggles. The product doesn’t really have a smell and so far my sensitive skin has not reacted to the product. It leaves my skin super smooth and clean. Some ingredients are algae and green tea extract.

Panacea Daily Facial Moisturizer

This moisturizer is everything that it states to be. Even though my skin is a Normal/Combination skin I have very dry skin during the winter. It is strange because I will  have these very dry spots but also a very oily t-zone. The moisturizer is the lightest moisturizer I have ever experienced. but it does leave my skin extremely hydrated while leaving a matte finish. Panacea claims that there is no need to use a makeup primer because of the mattifying effect the moisturizer has. Some ingredients include Japanese seaweed and Vitamin E.

Panacea Daily Facial SPF

Lastly we  have the Daily Facial SPF. It is an extremely lightweight SPF but it only has a SPF 25 UVA/UVB protection. It is recommended to choose a minimum of SPF 30 for your products even if the bare minimum from the FDA is SPF 15. Sunscreen is extremely important, especially if you live in a sunny climate like California.  I would probably only use this on more cloudy days or days where I am only inside. It does however not smell like other sunscreens nor does it leave a greasy look.

Overall I am definitely beyond impressed with this brand and the entire product line. And I would definitely recommend this for anyone with Normal/Combination skin. Whether you need to start a skincare regimen or simplify the one you already have, this is the perfect kit to start with. You can find their website at thepanacea.com

I was not compensated for this post. Panacea did send me products to try.

Give the gift of music with absolut Elyx

I am so excited to again be partnering up with Absolut Elyx for another fun post. It is the season of spending time with friends and family. And what better way to do so then with Absolut Elyx? Personally I love to spruce things up whether it is for a dinner party or if I’m just having some friends over for drinks. Absolut Elyx is a must have item in my bar. As I have mentioned before Absolut Elyx lies close to my heart with my Swedish Roots, and I am proud to say that I am Swedish, just like Absolut. Absolute Elyx is the world’s first single estate vodka, which is pretty impressing. The distillery uses a unique vintage copper column from 1921 to craft the vodka from the locally grown winter wheat.
I absolutely love how Absolut Elyx is so focused on the copper. From the beginning of making the vodka until the finished product, the copper aspect is always there. The bottle itself is beautiful just to display. Absolut Elyx also has a collection of copper vessels and bar tools which makes for some amazing looking drinks. This season they have released a limited edition music box which I was lucky enough to get my hands on. The music tin can be pre-ordered at reservebar and it is olyn $39 with a bottle of Absolut Elyx. Now you can also get a $1 shipping special. Be sure to check it out here as it makes for a fun and unexpected gift! Copper makes it better.

This holiday I will be spending time with friends and loved ones that are close by. Since most of my friends and family still live in Sweden, all my friends here has become my family. It is nice to still being able to have something from back home to enjoy, and to share. I also wanted to share one of my favorite drinks with you, which is the one pictured. The Raspberry Mule. It is probably one of the easiest and tastiest drinks to make. Recipe to follow.

RASPBERRY MULE
Ingredients:
3 Parts Absolut Elyx
1 Part Fresh Homemade Raspberry Cordial*
1 Part Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
Top Ginger Beer
Garnish: Fresh Raspberries
Method: Combine all ingredients in a copper mule cup (or glass) over crushed ice, top with ginger beer and garnish.

This is what happened during the Olay 28 day challenge

This post is sponsored by Olay. All words and opinions are my own.

During the month of November, I have been replacing my regular moisturizer with the Olay Total Effects Moisturizer with SPF 15 and I have also been using the Olay Eyes Deep Hydrating Eye Gel. Something that is so important for me, especially since I live in Los Angeles, is to use an SPF. The sun does so much more harm than we think, especially in the long run. However, the Olay Total Effects Moisturizer with SPF 15 is much more than a moisturizer with SPF. It has several benefits, evens out skin tone, enhances brightness, smooth’s fine lines and wrinkles and restores firmness, replenishes moisture, and reduces dark spots and circles.

Even though I have amazing genes from my mom, and have absolutely no signs of aging in my skin currently, I still have to make sure to take good care of my skin. But to be honest, sometimes I am really bad about it. So I decided to accept the Olay 28 day challenge! For 28 days I used the Olay Total Effects Moisturizer with SPF 15 and the Olay Eyes Deep Hydrating Eye Gel. In the morning I would apply the Olay Total Effects Moisturizer with SPF 15 and the Olay Eyes Deep Hydrating Eye Gel. And at night I would use the Olay Eyes Deep Hydrating Eye Gel. My skincare problems are mainly enlarged pores, an oily t-zone, acne and redness. My skin is also sensitive to new products at times so I was really nervous to see if the products would work or not.Although my skin did react a bit at first, I did see some improvements almost immediately. My skin seemed more even and radiant. By using these products morning and night, it gave me an overall better routine. It was so easy to use, and took me less than a minute of my day to do! So really anyone can do it. It is not a huge change and it will not take up a lot of your time. My old acne scarring also started to slowly fade which I am so thrilled about. I only started getting acne about a year ago and it was devastating for me. I also can’t keep my hands away so it resulted in a lot of scarring. The results after the Olay 28 Day Challenge.

It’s amazing how such a small change in your daily routine can encourage you to change even more for the better. Therefore, I challenge you to also participate in the Olay 28 Day Challenge. The first 15 people to use my coupon code 28DAYS6555 on olay.com will receive $40 off their purchase! I encourage you to visit the skin advisor to save time and easily fin the regiment best suited for you.
