I am so excited to again be partnering up with Absolut Elyx for another fun post. It is the season of spending time with friends and family. And what better way to do so then with Absolut Elyx? Personally I love to spruce things up whether it is for a dinner party or if I’m just having some friends over for drinks. Absolut Elyx is a must have item in my bar. As I have mentioned before Absolut Elyx lies close to my heart with my Swedish Roots, and I am proud to say that I am Swedish, just like Absolut. Absolute Elyx is the world’s first single estate vodka, which is pretty impressing. The distillery uses a unique vintage copper column from 1921 to craft the vodka from the locally grown winter wheat.
I absolutely love how Absolut Elyx is so focused on the copper. From the beginning of making the vodka until the finished product, the copper aspect is always there. The bottle itself is beautiful just to display. Absolut Elyx also has a collection of copper vessels and bar tools which makes for some amazing looking drinks. This season they have released a limited edition music box which I was lucky enough to get my hands on. The music tin can be pre-ordered at reservebar and it is olyn $39 with a bottle of Absolut Elyx. Now you can also get a $1 shipping special. Be sure to check it out here as it makes for a fun and unexpected gift! Copper makes it better.
This holiday I will be spending time with friends and loved ones that are close by. Since most of my friends and family still live in Sweden, all my friends here has become my family. It is nice to still being able to have something from back home to enjoy, and to share. I also wanted to share one of my favorite drinks with you, which is the one pictured. The Raspberry Mule. It is probably one of the easiest and tastiest drinks to make. Recipe to follow.
• 3 Parts Absolut Elyx
• 1 Part Fresh Homemade Raspberry Cordial*
• 1 Part Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
• Top Ginger Beer
• Garnish: Fresh Raspberries
Method: Combine all ingredients in a copper mule cup (or glass) over crushed ice, top with ginger beer and garnish.

If there is one thing Lamps Plus know, it is lamps! I was so thrilled when they reached out because I absolutely love interior design and adding my touch to my home. Unfortunately I don’t live in my ideal home but if we decide to extend our current lease I see some painting in the future to make it more me. Otherwise I will be on the hunt for a new home very soon!
I love going go Lamps Plus just for the inspiration that they have. It makes me fantasies about what my forever home will look like one day. Until then, small adjustments here and there will do. I received some new lamps from Lamps Plus. And they are absolutely stunning! Pictured is the Paragon Gold Leaf Table lamp. It really lit up the entire room, literally and figuratively.
If you want to check out their huge selection of lamps or just gather some inspiration you can visit Lamps Plus website here.
Do you ever happen to misplace or lose your things and end up spending more time finding them than you would actually using them? Well, in that case tile can help you! I rarely misplace my keys or wallet, but have a tendency to misplace my cameras or accessories for them. And so, every time I really need to use any of them, I have put them somewhere. But Im not completely sure of where they are. So, I go absolutely ballistic trying to find them. No more! Thanks to tile I can attach it to my camera, my remote controls – literally anything. And tile will help me find whatever I am looking for. Thanks to the tile app I can connect one or more tiles to my items making it super easy to find my items. When I press find the tile will play a tune so I can find it if I am nearby. If my item with the tile isn’t closely a map can show me where I last was close to it. What I love about this as well is that if i double press the tile – it finds my phone and my phone makes a sound. Its kind of a reverse function so they find each other! I love it since I often misplace my phone as well.
I have always been a multi-tasker. My head is constantly in 10 different places. There is no wonder to why I have such a broad range of interests. Although I don’t have favorites (yes, Im weird, I know), I do know what I like. My interests for interior design started first when I moved away from home at 16. I finally had a chance to kind of create my own space. I have always been one to enjoy change and adventure. But Im also the kind of person who would rather stay at home on a Friday night with a bottle of Wente wine and watchNetflix.
Moving to the US was definitely the biggest milestone when it came to me finally becoming a grown up. I was completely on my own without anyone here to help me. I lived the typical student life where you shared a 2 bedroom apartment with 3-4 other people. And of course we would all work hard in school. But play harder going out. Eventually, I found that I actually liked to stay in with a glass of wine, rather than going out. And, so of course, the best way for me to like being home was to create a space that I love.
My room has drastically changed its looks throughout the years. But now is when I feel like I actually know what I want it to look like. Its a mix of Scandinavian minimalist and modern rustic. I have incorporated coppers and DIY:ed marble shelves. But also included big chunky wooden pieces and metals. Fashion and beauty accents are added throughout the room. I have been fortunate enough to being able to style it the way I wanted over time. And with patience finding some key items to make it all come together. Even if it is on the right track, I am far from done decorating. But, it is good enough for me to wanting to be here all the time.
By the way, white wines are my jam.
The most drastic change I made was a couple weeks ago when I got my new bed. I cleared out of almost all of my IKEA furnitures and decided to start from scratch. I realized, that with patience, it didn’t have to cost a lot to create my dream space. Spending a weekend doing DIYs transforming old boring furnitures and throwing out the old felt really good. And I really couldn’t have done it all without sipping on my wine. I found a new love for stores I had never been to before and find myself there two-three times a week just to pan out for whats new in store. Not that I need anything in particular. But, because I want to see if there is anything I could add.
I think that we all have a turning point in our lives when we become grown up. And we start to figure out what we actually want. Career wise, I am still a lost soul. If I will stay in this home for a longer period, that I do not know. But at least I know what to strive for once the time comes to move again. This has been my home for over a year now and I am finally starting to grow into it.
I just ordered this amazing rotating makeup tower storage from Amazon (this one) and it only costed me $23! I used to have all the makeup that I used the most, like every day stuff and my current favorites in a drawer. But it got so messy every time I used something and it started to get full as I added new items all the time. I wanted to have something that was more organized but didn’t take up too much space for my everyday makeup. Now of course this little tower holds way more makeup then the items i use “every day” so I filled it up with all my favorites so that I could easier get to them. The rest of my makeup is still stored away in all my drawers. If you guys are interested in seeing my full makeup collection or how I store it please do let me know! To see the full storage in action just watch the video i posted on my Instagram (bottom of post).
To me this is a perfect storage for my essentials and favorites. If you’re a makeup geek this will of course not suit your whole collection but I don’t keep all my makeup visible and like to keep my tables as clear as possible and rather store it away in all the drawers. Now the only thing I was a little disappointed in with this was that it didn’t spin that well. Like I have to push it for it to spin so I wished it would spin a little bit more by itself. But maybe it was just this specific one that don’t have that great spin. Other then that it wasn’t hard to assemble and the different compartments are just perfect for all my items.
The top has space for lipsticks and small items. I do actually already have a lipstick storage for all my lipsticks so I will probably re-arrange this and maybe put concealers and other stuff for my face on the top instead of lip products. Mostly because I cant fit all my lipsticks up there and my other lipstick holder is perfect in size for my favorite lipsticks. But, we will see how it turns out.
I am partnering up with Fab.com and they were kind enough to let me choose a few items from their website. On the website they have a selection of several amazing and unusual designers to make your home more special. I decided to go with a few small items to decorate my new home and make it look nicer and a little bit more modern. Now, there are so many more ways to make your home look more inviting but these are a few simple and small things that I did to make me feel more at home, in my new home.
Switch out your desk lamp.
Before I got this lamp I had one form IKEA. Kind of rustic but very boring and simple. This lamp brings dimensions and adds a really nice and unique touch to the whole desk area. The lamp can als be used as a ceiling lamp. The lamp is form he designer Artecnica and sells for $104, unfortunately this particular one seems to now be out of stock. It drew my attention the most but they have a ton of other lamps similar to this one as well as some very cool neon sign lamps. Find more at Fab.com under Home and Lightning.
Add some decorative Bath Salts.
I wanted to add something to my thumb for the bathroom. I have a huge empty space around my tub and whats more perfect then some decorative bath salts? I thought that these Bath Decorations from Mullein & Sparrow were so adorable and the kit comes with a Bath Salt, a Rose Hydrosol and a Body Oil. This particular set sells for $60 and also comes in Lavender. Mullein & Sparrow have a ton of other things such as beautiful pink bath salt and exfoliants. You can find these under Womens Skin Care & Beauty.
A useful decoration.
Last but not least is this pineapple tumbler from W&P Design. I just absolutely love to look at this, and I have been wanting one for as long as I can remember. This particular one is the smaller 12oz version in copper ($35). It also comes in gold and in a larger 16oz gold version which also includes a straw ($99). This alone is gorgeous to have just as a decoration, but if you want to be extra fancy it also works as a cup and cupholder. Find it under Home Kithcen & Dining.
You can also win a $1000 shopping spree at Fab.com. Simply fill out the form HERE.
Hey guys. It’s been a while since I’ve updated but due to recent events I needed some time off. Moving into the new house has taken up a lot of time as well. One of the things that I did here was setting up a whole new work and makeup area since I have a bigger room now then before. And I though I would show you how you easily can set upp this vanity mirror system by yourself. Best of all is that the lights turns on an off with a remote, which is optional but a really smart solution. Lets begin!
The things that you will need is:
- A mirror
- Vanity light bars
- Light Bulbs
- Picture and frame hangers (or hardware)
- Extension cords
- Remote Lamp Control
- Outlet adapter or extension cord (to connect lights to the wireless remote)
- Scissors and screwdriver
First of all you need to find a mirror of size and style that you like and that will fit on your wall. I purchased a frameless mirror from Lowes for a really good price. the size of this one is 30×36 inches and costed me about 28 dollars! Instead of using hardware to put it up, I used 4 picture and frame hangers that i bought at target. As you can see I chose to hang the mirror a little bit above the table so place yours at your liking. I chose a slightly bigger mirror just because my wall is really big and empty, it just filled it up nicely. Lets move on to wiring the light bars.
What you want to do first is separating the extension cord and the plug that is attached to it by cutting it off, you will not need the plug! Then, split the 2 cords and with a scissor cut off about an inch of the rubber, but do not cut off the copper thread! As you can see on the cord, one wire is completely smooth while one wire has raised ridgets. This will tell you which cord goes into black and which goes into the white cord on your vanity light bar. The cord with raised ridgets goes into white, and the smooth cords goes into black. As you can see here below this is what it will look like when you attach them. spin together the copper wires and remember to put on the plastic caps. This is extremely important so that the white and the black cords don’t touch each other. It might cause a fire.
After attaching the light bar to the extension cords you may put in your light bulbs and try it out to make sure that everything works! When it comes to picking light bulbs choose light bulbs that doesn’t produce yellow light, as you may see these bulbs have a blue tint which is ideal for makeup light. They are a bit more expensive then regular bulbs but a good investment. I bough my light bulbs at Lowes.
I ordered the light bars at Amazon (link) simply because I wanted to have one long bar on each side of my mirror that were the same height as my mirror (36 inches). Now what bars you choose is completely up to you and depends on how you want it. You can choose to do like me, have shorter bars or even have lightning that goes all around your mirror. I attached these with the hardware that was included which only was 2 screws for each bar. Super simple and I recommend to attach the “bottom” part before attaching the top part of the bar as well as the lights to secure it to the wall.
I really hoped that this helped someone out there. If anything is unclear please leave a comment and I will update the post as well as answer your questions! And if you did try this out, please share photos or let me know, I love to see what others do as well.
