Algenist ALIVE Prebiotic Balancing Mask – Review

Algenist has, for a long time, been one of my favorite skincare brands. Today I am going to review a skincare product that I have been using for quite some time. I received the Algenist ALIVE Prebiotic Balancing Mask last year. During this quarantine, I have not stopped reaching for it. So let’s talk more about it! Before we start, please understand that this review is my personal experience and what works/not works for my skin. This review may not reflect the same experience for you.

Algenist ALIVE Prebiotic Balancing Mask

Since we are all at home more now during self-quarantine, I have had a lot of time to try skincare. I have also developed a lot of stress-related acne on my face, especially around my mouth, chin, and forehead. Those are areas I tend to pick at when I am stressed. So, I needed to find something in my skincare archive that would help clear the acne up. But, it also needed to be gentle on my skin. That is when I picked up the Algenist ALIVE Prebiotic Balancing Mask.

It is worth to mention that Algenist ALIVE Prebiotic Balancing Mask is vegan and free of a lot of nasty ingredients. Such as; sulfates SLS and SLES, parabens, formaldehyde, formaldehyde-releasing agents, phthalates, mineral oil, retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, triclosan, and triclocarban, and contains less than one percent of synthetic fragrances.

Some of the highlighted ingredients in the Algenist ALIVE Prebiotic Balancing Mask are; Patented Alguronic Acid, Algae Prebiotic, and Kaolin & Bentonite Clays. Together they help to minimize signs of wrinkles, balancing the skin’s microbiome, and draw out toxins and impurities. All of this results in an overall natural glow and more even complex. What is fun about this mask is that before applying, it is teal. But, as you massage the clay into your mask, it turns into a pink clay

I have been using the Algenist Algenist ALIVE Prebiotic Balancing Mask 1-2 times per week .. (Note that it is recommended to use it 2-3 times per week). My skin was dry and dull. I had also developed a lot of stress acne in the form of small whiteheads since this stay-at-home order started. My eating habits may also have contributed to my acne. I am not gonna lie when I say that they have become much worse due to the situation.

Algenist ALIVE Prebiotic Balancing Mask

Since I started using the Algenist ALIVE Prebiotic Balancing Mask, I have noticed some differences. First and foremost, my skin has more glow, and pores appear to look smaller. It has also helped hydrate. But, most importantly, it has pulled out a lot of gunk and whiteheads from my skin. I tend to pick a lot at acne when I get it. I never had teen acne and am not used to having bumps on my face. (Adult acne is a VERY real thing). It has led to some scarring, and being able to pull the whiteheads out has helped with the picking.

I would recommend this mask to anyone. Since you only need to leave it on for 2-5 minutes, it is perfect for anyone. Especially if you are short on time or too lazy to do a lengthy skincare routine. All you need is 4-6 minutes to apply and then rinse. A hot tip is to put it on before you jump in the shower and then rinse it off. And, for the price of $38, you certainly get your money worth.
