Spring Cleaning for a peace of mind, and how to keep it that way

This post is sponsored by Bona but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

It’s around the time of year where we look at our homes and kind of go. Hmm, do I really need this sweater that I haven’t worn in two years? At least that is how it is for me. This year has been an especially clustered one, considering I moved into a smaller place. In celebration of a new year and spring, here is how I have been cleaning and organizing my house. And some of my best tips to make sure it stays clean and organized.

Clean out the kitchen cabinets

One of the most satisfying things I’ve done is cleaning out the kitchen cabinets and organizing all of our dry food. I like organizing them into mason jars and we have extremely little conserved food at home. I also cleared out on items that we never use like extra jars, glasses, food containers that are missing lids etc. By clearing out the items we don’t use we instantly had way less clutter and a more organized cupboard.

Make sure everything has its place.

One of the most important things when it comes to being organized is making sure everything you have has its own place. That way you will always know where it is and it will also be organized. Imagine putting your glasses with your mugs and then looking for a specific glass in the glass cabinet – but you put it in the mug cabinet. Yikes. This also helps me with space because I know what and how much will fit somewhere.

Do the dishes before you go to bed.

I know that a lot of people probably load up their dishwashers and let it run over night. but that also means that in the morning you have to empty it. Rather than having to do dishes the next day as well, run the dishwasher and empty it before bed. Then you’ll also not be left with dishes in the sink the next morning because the dishwasher is clean and full.

Cleaning out the closet, and color coordinating.

Cleaning out and organizing my closet has bene the biggest project. I am still working on how to organize smaller things like swim and accessories. But removing any item, no matter what they are, if I haven’t worn them was crucial. I have clothes that Ive had for 5 or more years that I still wear, but I also have ones that I don’t wear at all. And it was about time for me to get rid of them. After that I decided to color coordinate my closet rather than sectioning it by item. This has also let me have more space to store things like linens, towels and other extra stuff I have.

Do a deep cleaning of your house, then do a routine clean at least once a week.

After you have organized and gotten rid of items that you no longer want, it is time to get down to the nitty gritty. Doing a deep clean of kitchen, bathroom and of course floors! I have been loving my Bona Spray Mop to easily keep my laminate floors clean. When you have a little dog running around it can easily get more messy. But the bona has been so easy to use and made our floors so much cleaner.

The Bona Spray Mop comes in two variants, for either Hardwood Floors, or  Stone, Tile, & Laminate Floors. It comes with a removable and washable microfiber pad. I love that the bigger base plate moves flexible around furniture and corners! And, it also comes with a full cartridge that is easy to refill.
